On Friday evening September 26th, we helped event planner Melanie Murphy host the first cocktail party at the new venue 701 Whaley. Melanie of "By Invitation Only" used silver linens and silver chavari chairs to create a modern chic atmosphere in the old restored warehouse. It rained all evening but it did not deter all the guests arriving in their cocktail attire. Many of the guests were newly engaged couples and professionals in the wedding service industry. Our good friends were there to help Melanie celebrate a successful year of business. Also attending the party was the owners of the building Robert Lewis and Richard Burts. What a fabulous job they have achieved in restoring such an old building! It will make a great venue for wedding receptions as it is a large space and right accross the street from a church.
The beautiful food we prepared was outstanding. We tray passed on tiny plates, crabcakes with lemon dill sauce and pork tenderloin tips with a spicy sweet and sour glaze. We also served tiny lemon tarts, hand made italian style meatballs, proscuitto wrapped asparagus, delicious potato cakes and bacon and chicken tempura with dipping sauce. On display we had an elegant strawberry sphere. Melanie did a great job with the decor and she created comfortable cozy seating in the large space by utilizing a small tent set with a sofa and soft seating. She also had a cute favor table set for her guests with candy apples, popcorn and peanuts.
